Russ is originally from Houston, Texas and is the founder of Zinc Oxide LLC in Dickson, TN in 2013 which was renamed Zochem in 2017 after leading the acquisition of the Zochem facility in Ontario, Canada. Russ is currently the Chairman of the Board which is backed by over 40 years within the zinc industry. He has held executive roles across the globe including C.E.O. and owner of a major zinc oxide producer in the U.S along with the position of C.E.O. of a $700M French-German publicly owned metals company which specialized in zinc-lead operations. With a vertically integrated understanding of the zinc industry, Russ founded Steel Dust Recycling in 2008 (SDR) which included his development, ownership, and operation of a Waelz kiln in the U.S. In the same spirit of growth that drives Zochem today, Russ expanded his Waelz kiln knowledge on the international stage with the start of Global Steel Dust in 2010 (GSD) and domestically with the founding and startup of Zinc Resources in 2023 in Victoria, TX, to support the responsible recycling of EAF dust. His personal passion of supporting a multitude of philanthropic causes is seen through his service on numerous non-profit Boards including the Bauer Business School at the University of Houston.
